Road trip day 7- Queenstown and Wanaka. I go bungee jumping!

I was a little nervous when I woke. This was the day that Christina and I were going to jump off the highest bungee jump in Australaisa, the Nevis bungee jump, a 134 meter drop. But I couldn't be bothered with that immediately, I had to get a big breakfast. Afterwards Christina and I walked through the Botanical gardens where we found a sequoia- score! It really was a beautiful little park in the town.

I attempted to climb it

Its officially fall!

The Princess and the Pea?

Soon, however, it was time. We headed out towards the bungee place and saw the other members of out group- they had just gone para-sailing, which sounds amazing, I would love to do it sometime. And then we got on the but for the drive out to the bungee, part of which was on a road without bumper, on the side of a big hill, a little scary but not bad.
We looked out at the bungee platform, a little hut suspended by cords out over a huge canyon. We were suited up with the harness and then clicked into the little cart that would carry us to the box, that was a little frightening, to be honest I was worried that I would drop my camera more then anything. When we got the the cabin we watched as one by one people went through the gate to the chair there they had everything strapped to their feet, they then walked to the platforms and threw themselves off a little platform into the precipice, was I going to be able to do this? What if something happened, well I am pretty sure I signed my soul away somewhere with the paperwork they made up do before jumping but it was too late to worry about that
Eventually they called my name, before Christina, I was to go first. I got onto the chair and they began to tie me in, I was committed now. No turning back, they tiend the straps on my legs and explained a few basic things- the first was to spread your arms and fall head first, the second was a red strap tucked into the legs, I was to give it a good yank when I got done with the second bounce. And then it was time. I got down from the chair and slowly walked to the platform and got ready to jump. There was someone holding me from behind, I was to jump on three, so he counted 1-2-3 go! Now at this point I had two options jump right away, or wait and let the horrible tension build without release. I jumped right away. It was weird because I was falling and I was wondering why my body had not yet turned so the head was facing downwards yet. Eventually it did, I didn't scream but I remember thinking this view is nice. Eventually the cord stretched an I began to bounce- it was all so quick through. I pulled the cord and got a good view of the canjon- not bad I thought, not bad at all, and then I was slowly winched back, and grinningly deposited back into the cart. It was nothing compared to that seal I though. I think if I were to do it again I would want to do it from the bridge and be dunked in the water- I think it might be more frightening if there is an actual impact.

Right next to the Australasia's highest jump was the worlds highest swing

The booth we would jump out of.

It was a long way down

Almost there

The jumping platform

Can you tell I was a bit nervous?

I did it!

So happy when I got back up!

Yeah, I did that.

Next time, this jump. Also- its fall!

It was then my christina's turn- she did great! This is her jumping. After jumping she wore superman undies on top of her pants and walked around town.

Afterwards we got back to Queenstown and had ice-cream for lunch- good, but not the best for my belly. We also tried some free ginger-flavored beer, it was good.

It was time then to head to Wanaka through the wine country, it was beutiful at the end of the wine vies there were roses planted , ithe were also many fruit trees along the road. We eventurally got to Wanatak, where we had out own sort of cabiin with 6 bunks, a ktchen, and bathroom. It was a cushy little place. Wanaka is much queter then queentown, it is the place for a peaceful vacation. That night we decdied that we would stay there two days and get to know the area. We even took a dip in the lake that night.
