The first part of field camp had over 50 people in it. We stayed in a cinder-block building that was part of a convention center. It was a 3 day trip that was also mixed with a structural geology class, I think I enjoyed it, but the last night I was up till 4 AM working on a report for it. During this portion we visited a few sites on buses, they were all either on the coast or very close to the coast so I have a few nice nature photos from them. They connected this gigantic syncline which ran for tens of miles. (A syncline is a U-shaped fold in the earth where the center pieces are folded down. (I will try and add a picture of my map in a few hours so you can see what I mean.) Anyway, it was a really great way to meet people I met a couple of Americans and a whole lot of Kiwi's!
Enjoy the pictures!

These little jellies were on the rocks where we were. |

Oh, BTW, the weather here is very unpredictable, it could be sunny and breezy one minute and the next, down-pouring. |
